Exactly, if it's fragile, collectable, tooling, worth more than the limit without insurance, valuable, cash money or an activated card, an engine part, a firearm related item, a piece of art or something related to anything they decide is 'bad' you aren't supposed to send it via them.
Doesn't really leave much does it? One of the reasons I usually avoid sending things via NZ Post - too much faffing about and drama with them. If they don't break it, lose it or squash it in transit they'll give you grief about it.
NZ Post is the operator of last choice for any fireams / ammunition related items. Just dont use them.

I couldn't even get a firearms shipped out of wellington last week gun city and hunting and fishing wouldn't ship it
And NZ post wonder why people have stopped posting with them.
There is a business opportunity in amongst this nonsense for a non woke old bugger like me but it is hard to see how the business model would be profitable given our relatively small number and the expanse of our country. Easy to come up with a name though. I like “Gun Runner”. Maybe if I win Lotto I will invest in an old armoured cash truck and do it just for shits and giggles. I can see the sign on the back of the truck now. Gun Runner - flipping the bird to NZ Post since they got dumb and stupid”
