Forgot to mention - if you mix the PB with rolled oats - you need to add some margarine and vegetable oil to keep it moist - the rolled oats soak up the moisture in the PB and it sets like concrete
Also heaps of information in our thread Bird Predator Control - https://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co....control-22269/

My little Gamo 177 air pistol served me well for years... I used peanut butter and pre fed a location several nights in a row before setting up with the air pistol within 10m of the final bait. Surprisingly accurate, powered by the wee disposable CO2 Cartridges and had an 8 round cylinder from memory.

Cheers guys, the trap in the above photo against a tree looks like his gas powered trap, but I'm sure its blue.
I've tried to convince my brother to allow drowning, but he won't let any animal suffer, which I respect..they are rats I know, but I too make sure I kill them outright..but if he would allow drowning we would get a lot more. They get thrown in the paddock for the local Hawks, so they look like flying rugby balls now.
Keen to try peanut butter, may do tonight if I get over there. Also grab some cinnamon powder, I'm happy spending money, as to me it's a lot of fun...lol... They go mental over bread, sometimes see a slice of bread "stand up' and walk away in the evening, so need to be quick with the rifle. Will chuck some chicken wire over the next bread which will buy us time. Have broken the bread up but the little shits are damned fast at running to get it.

I've heard that chocolate spread works well like peanut butter too. A guy from rentakill told me peanut butter is only good on a trap for a couple of days before it loses it's attraction ability.

For what it's worth the duck shooters at my nzda built a pontoon on their pond. Put some grain on it for a night and then put some more the following night and spotlightd them

Terriers nature instinct is to dig out rats. They love it. Not sure if you want a new dog or not though. 😁
