    A piece of advice for shooting ferrets (may also work for stoats) that I was given and have had success with ...

    If a ferret bolts into a rabbit hole, wait with the gun pointed at the mouth of the hole where it went in. About 10-20 seconds later it will pop its head back out to see if you're still there, and if you're ready you can shoot it in the head.
