I get the same issue. Sometime pages on this forum take longer to load than spring turning into summer, or my kids growing up and moving out of home.

    Anyway, back on topic.

The 73g ELDM did the job here to fill the family schnitzel order, but only just at 275 yards. I'll take more gun next time as there were some decent bulls about that I just couldn’t get close enough to be confident in knocking them over.

This might wind a few people up but have been on a deer/pest culling hunt in a local NP. Anyhow, I decided to take a shot on a deer at 492 meters with 73eldm with a faint right to left breeze. Shot was successful if marginally to side of crease. Animal turned around, took four steps and fell down and didn’t move again. . A good result considering velocity would have been around 1635 fps. Shooting buddy who was backing up with 300 Win mag was well impressed. No photos of animal as recovery wasn’t considered and weather closed in.

Continuing with the 223 on Tahr theme. My daughter's first Tahr couple of weeks ago.

73gr ELD-M impact velocity 2165fps. Full pass through.

The 73s seem a little softer than the 80s to me. A very good option for lower velocity e.g. shorter barrels

This was about 2100fps impact. Hit behind the left shoulder around the midline, just forward of the diaphragm. Quartering away. Shredded lungs, 50mm hole in offside ribcage, heaps of bloodshot both sides of ribcage, penetrated through and exited RHS shoulder (exit in photo). Staggered 10m, collapsed.

Would have been nice to see the bullet expansion at that speed

Agree, it would have been interesting to see bullet expansion but it obviously performed ok. Animal turned around and took 4 steps before tipping over. Animal was watched for 10+ minutes while deciding whether to attempt recovery, which we didn’t for various reasons.

We went for a meat hunt in the weekend 4 of us took 33 fallow home.
    I shot 15 with the.223 using 77tmk from 50M to 287M all head shot.
Flies being a big issue this time of year , the little net over the trailer worked well.
All 33 given away to people wanting meat.
