Why do we need to give our D.O.B. when applying for a hunting permit on line? Is this new? Didn't need this info when got permits for West Coast last year.

Did you put 5 & they declined your permit ?
Whats the problem? They ask for your address too....get a life and stop moaning unless you underage for a firearms licence . Really ,,, lmao. Pretty standard with anything like this is it not
Calm your tits.
Seems like the person is just asking why and if it changed.
It's most likely just for analytics and working out trends of who's using what.
Would be quite interesting to see if the average age of back country hut users and hunters has changed much
Ahhh the modern society, sharing info like there's no tomorrow!! They could just ask for your Facebook login!
They require your firearm license number which should be sufficient verification, after all this has been verified by the NZ Police.
Im going with the STATS side of it, however when renewing your permit they ask for permit number and DOB so they bring your details up. Just because you give a firearms number does'nt mean their system is linked to know all the details of that number??
Just as an off side........dont we have to put DOB in to sign up here??:):)

Pretty sure it's just to identify which Joe Smith you are... The 57 year old one as opposed to the 19 year old one who lives down the road... Nothing to get paranoid about.. They aren't about to hack your fb and bank acc details...
No FAL needed here

Permission for Hunting : Tuhoe
Its logical to me, not everyone hunts with a firearm
Some people hunt with a bow. Or a knife. Or with their minds.

No licence information required.
It certainly was a fair question...with today's stealing of info and identity,s,we are no different than the rest of terra firma. The fact that kiwi is moving in this direction is really a sign of the times. You would piss and moan if something happened and asked why you wernt asked your age,and you piss and moan when your not...,.so what side of the fart-sack did you wake up on this morning.....there is no hiding anymore ...get used to it
With some stuff I drop a year our add a year when asked for date of birth.
If it's not important and imo not really needed.
Can't remember if I did this to DOC don't think so but did it for Auckland airport wifi login
@Gibo usually calls it a 270.
It died of embarrassment then realised what hit it then continued to graze. So i got my mate to shoot it with his 2506
Not moaning or complaining about it or anything else. Thought I was just asking a simple question as was not required last time I got a permit as stated.
More important is why is it for such a short period, why not twelve months ?
Why not lifetime? I thought 3 months was quite long myself.
many people only hunt in season not year round?
I'm fairly sure it was a 12 month permit when I started hunting about 10 years ago, then they dropped them to 6, then 3.
The only real reason I can think of is that when you renew it they give updates on poison drops, blocks being temporarily closed etc. But they should be able to just email that info out anyway.
