Thread: Does weather affect stags roaring?

Can anyone shed any light on the consistency of sika rutting period? Looking to hunt next year early April in the Kawekas and hunting for 10 days. Public land is what I'm looking at but is the extra cost flying into a private block with Helisika any real advantage? Thoughts and thanks.

Helisika blocks get hammered and at $80 p/p a night makes it a pretty expensive trip after paying for the chopper. If you have a look at the photos of stags taken on their website, there aren’t very many good ones coming out of their blocks. Better hunting to be had on public land IMO.
