Exactly what outdoorlad said.
But if certain members of a govt organisation had their way, then the currently legal practice of exiting a running helicopter would be banned. Meaning longer time to load and unload passengers, refueling etc. unless the pilot had a crew member with them. But then that reduces one seat for a paying passenger.
When done correctly it is perfectly safe. And I have no concerns at all doing it.
Interestingly enough. The large oil and gold company's I flew for banned pilot exiting a running helicopter. So all refueling and unloading was done by a crew member.
I do hope NZ doesn't go down the road of banning it. Like many other countries have.
Anyway, never flown in with EKH but they sound like a good operator, so I hope they get the cert back soon.
Good luck for the roar everyone!
