First hunt for almost a year

Two weeks ago I had the urge to go for a hunt.
It was 11 & a half months since my last hunt. With a strong westerly blowing I lay down in a gully watching over a clearing until dusk.
With no sign of any animals I decided to get up and walk across the clearing to take a look at an area which dropped down to another small clearing where I hoped something may have come out.

I checked the area out but nothing was out (bugger), I decided to head back across the original clearing on my way home.
I was three quarters of my way back across the clearing when I looked up and right where I had been laying down there was a mob of 6 deer.
I pulled my badlands pack off my back, stood it on its end, rested the 7mm rem mag across the top of the pack while pulling down on the sling, checked the rang, dialed up the Swavo Z5 and pulled the trigger BANG down went a nice big spiker, I reloaded and fired again and down went another nice sized spiker (you beauty).

I could have kept going but then thought I have to carry these big buggers out, it was hard work but well worth it and thinking about it I was very happy with the shooting since I hadn't been out for so long.

Thanks mate, couldn't believe the ordasity of the buggers gathering in the spot I had been laying.

I would have thought it would be scented up.

Cheers mate, I was happy I got them. I had a chance to go again this weekend but covid put a stop to that.

Will have to wait until after lambing now.

My boy and a mate got most of it so I need another couple of animals to get through summer.
