Thanks for posting that article @Mark M. Note the final sentence in reference to the gun lobby:

“In fact, there is now substantial research showing that fewer guns make a society safer, as our factsheet shows”

Yet since the firearms reforms, gun violence has escalated terribly and has never been this bad. I wonder how Comrades Russell and Cook go with explaining that?
