Using a Mk3 303 when the Finnwolf was out of action.

Crossed the Rankleburn with nothing in the chamber - then spotted two deer that were standing 30 yards away through the bush.

Didn’t want to take my eyes off them while I cranked on the bolt to put one up the spout, deer still standing there.

Bloody bolt wouldn’t move despite me heaving on it, deer got sick of this and wandered off.

I then looked down to discover the safety was half on and locking the bolt in place…doh!

Must have bumped it crossing the creek.
