Kaimanawas - 4 days late roar hunting

My mate Chad and I snuck into the hills for 4 days chasing sika, hoping to catch up with a few stags late in the roar.
The weather couldn't have been any better and it was a bloody good 4 days in the hills - Good laughs had around the campfire and some great food cooked over it!
Unfortunately neither of us managed to come across a decent stag, but we both managed to bag a meat animal and had some epic encounters up close with some sika in the bush. I somehow managed to hang out with a few sika for an over an hour while they just squealed away at me, which gave the opportunity for some awesome photos and footage. Such cool animals!!

If you've got a spare 36mins then feel free to grab a coffee and check out the video below!

Thank you, great writeup. After reading 'Sika Hunters' by Alex Gale I would love to visit some of the beautiful areas where you hunt Sika.

    My favourite deer!

I’ve walked up along that track many times, but never dropped into the river; I can see why!
Great footage of the noisey hinds.
