    Kaipo river? Kaimanawas

    I have a mate flying in next week and as he can barely operate his phone so asked me to have dig around for info on the net.
    Having alook on the map i reckon he can leave the long range rig at home and take the short angry gun for those close personal encounters.
    some general info would be great.

    Been a long time since I've been in there but Id guess its referring to the DOC Oamaru Hut? The old Te Iringa hut burnt down ages ago is would be the only official hut other than the Oamaru in that general area that is close to Kaipo. There is a Heli Sika strip across the Oamaru too. Up the Oamaru it skinnies up quickly and Jap Creek is a good option if hes down that way. Great trout fishing too.
