I'm undecied wheter to join NZDA or RRGC in Palmerston North,
I like how RRGC range is accesible, however I also want to meet likeminded hunters.
Does anyone know if RRGC has meetups like NZDA or anything like it?

I am a member of RRGC and I don't believe it has meet ups/hunts like NZDA.
RRGC has also become very expensive ($280 a year I think) and if you all you are doing is sighting in your rifle a couple of times a year it's hard to recoup the expenses.
NZDA has many other advantages other than just a range.
Cheers for that, I work shift work so it'll be hard to commit to the NZDA Range shoots as my shifts don't line up,
Do you know anywhere else in Palmerston North that does rifle sighting in by chance?
I think the rifle club at cheltenham may do but best to contact them as i haven't been out there.
RRGC sighting range is useful but expensive these days to be a member.
It's more set up as a pistol range now.
I've been a member of NZDA and currently a member of RRGC. They are both great but two completely different organizations. If you only want the zeroing range RRGC might not be worth it.
I'm sure if you joined NZDA and got chatting, someone would know of a spot to zero your rifle.
Like @PeteD said there's loads of benefits to joining NZDA for a hunter.
I would also recommend checking out the service rifle section at RRGC. The shooting is not technically "difficult" but shooting on the clock from different positions will make you a better shot.
RRGC used to be great years ago but the range has been under pressure from the surrounding lifestyle fuk wits for a long time now ( noise etc ) but they don't do themselves any favours, I joined few years back & was treated like shit by admin so they can get fucked
NZDA in Palmy has nowhere, Cheltham is an option
But if you want a decent range with genuine GC's, join Taihape NZDA - while its a 90min drive to Decans from Palmy you won't regret ya day out, by far best n proactive NZDA shooting club in the Lower - central NI
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
If your willing to travel the range at Kiatoki has 7 day access with a 200m range and has an NZDA club associated with it with club rooms on sight.
A bit of travel but the best of both worlds.
A nice public - member 200 range in the Manawatu would be fantastic but like everything "firearms" related nowadays it just seems to be controlled by a small group of squeaky wheel anti's & covered n red tape
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
I was looking at joing the NZDA with my brother in law.
But the price of membership has put me off alot.
The organised hunts and motorbike hunts look great but jeeze the price of membership is nuts.
Not sure about other clubs but membership of the Kiatoki NZDA club ( I think it's Upper Hutt) is about the same as membership of RRGC.
The insurance and organized hunts, range etc give you more value for money at the NZDA.
$146 for full snr membership
I've been a member of the RRGC in past. The easy anytime access is very handy if you are shooting often doing load development with reloads etc. But if it's just the odd check zero then it's pretty hard to justify. I just pop down to a friend's place to shoot 100m now as the RRGC cost is a bit much for how often I used it, which is a shame.
