    Off topic, is the Race Course still there? I think the pubs gone? Good New years day at the races, many years ago. The yanks owned the big house just down the straight towards Featherston just before the POW camp. My father used to do maintenance work there during the war.

    Yeah the racecourse is still there, still good times watching the horses with a the family, mates and a few beers. Pub is still there too... not sure which one is the big house you mention.
