Interesting, didn’t know that. Didn’t seem to notice it but then again it wasn’t out more than 12 hours or so.

When I put meat aside in cheesecloth, some of the gaps in the cloth weave were wide enough for flies to stick in their ovipositor to lay eggs. Spotted a couple of flies today trying to do that. When i use cheesecloth I use it to separate pieces of meat so it can go in my pack without sweating, not for hanging out in the open. Here is a picture of a female fly illustrating how she can extend it a wee bit.
