Thread: pig hunting west coast north island

I'm heading up Raglan way from Palmerston North next week and wanted to stop for a hunt along the way... It'll be a daytime hunt so I'm keen on shooting a pig somewhere along the road.
Any recommendations?

Any wild deer hangin round the deer farm?

ah yeah they get the odd one breaking in during the roar. they mostly hang out in neighbours though who have a big sheep farm with lots of gorse/bush.. but i don't know if they want me out there nicking their deer too much!

Where's the farm your staying at mate? There's a few pigs and deer around raglan itself. Could point you in the right direction. Pigs have been a bit more scarce I've found this year for some reason. I seen a couple fallow tonight but on private land

the farm is up in waitetuna.. i didn't have high hopes for hunting around there on public land just because there's not that much wildernes for how close it is to auckland and hamilton. i was hoping somewhere between palmy and the farm there would be a good spot to stop for a walk somewhere in the naki or something like that. I'm just starting out hunting so not that clued up!

Its ok up there but only if the loopy prick who lived at the end of the formed road has buggered off. Be warned that the track will be knee deep in mud up by the plateau
