Yeah, I very nearly screwed the pooch there.
What didn't really come across in the ep was the fact that under normal circumstances, Anto would communicate better with me beforehand as to where to set up my tripod and camera, and exactly how things would play out in his head. Because he knew this Cham was a potential trophy of a lifetime, I think his nerves made him rush things, and forget to go through the normal protocols.
To be perfectly honest, I had no idea the buck was the size he was (I don't monitor audio on the hill so was unaware of many of the discussions between Sam and Anto) so figured this might be another case of the guys thinking a buck's a monster when it's only 9.5 inches, which has happened on a couple of occasions in the past. It wasn't till Anto pulled it out of the scrub and I saw the horns that I realised the gravity of the situation.
It would have been nice to have framed the shot perfectly and had a slow motion impact shot through the shoulder, but the way it played out on screen certainly added a bit of extra drama to the sequence!
