Thread: Ruahine Tops Monday Week - Anyone Keen?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I am thinking of heading into the Ruahine tops for a few nights from Monday week (11th). I have never hunted the tops before and have a grand total of 6hrs experience in the Ruahines bush.
I'm thinking I will spend 3-4 nights up there and explore some new country. If there are deer around then all the better.
Looking at Google Earth and the DoC website I am thinking I will start off at Rangiwahia Hut and Deadman's Loop area. I have a Huntech 2 man Biv and a one man tent (will probably take the tent if I don't have any mates).
Any info on what the hunting is like up there of if I may be better served somewhere elsewould be greatly appreciated (I don't mind walking a bit further to get away from the masses). If anyone wants to tag along for some or all of it then I would welcome the company.
