I like your scope cover. Use the same setup.
First of all, bloody good story, well written, concise.

Didn’t even notice the inner tube on your scope, until I read 7mm comment. I’ve done the same for years (suppressor too)
Mine unrolled by accident one day and I was surprised it seemed to have very little effect. Awesome in the rain!

Yeah I have inner tube on all my scopes and suppressors. Protects from scratches and cuts down on scratch/knock noise.
The sunshade with the tube tight for an inch in front is my rain bush hunting setup. I screw the sun shade on and put a flip cap at the ocular end. I never have to wipe the scope and it doesn't fog.

I use about three inches of pvc pipe cut length ways so it clips around the scope on the front. And a length of sturdy but soft rubber tube on the rear so if I do cop a crack to the forehead it doesn't hurt to much.
With a inch overhang at the back and a couple at the front bugger all water gets on the lenses if you are careful.

    Overkill is still dead.
