No 7mm08 this time of year. We were supposed to be away a week but shot 4 and missed two in the first 4 days. Still have not learnt impulse control. Left gear behind as I had a BIG carry out of meat and the two heads. Meanwhile juniors charging ahead with just his clothes in his pack telling me how slow I am for 5 1/2 hours lol

A couple of nice coastal southland bush stags. My mate come down from Queenstown for a day trip to see how I bush hunt as he hasn't done it too often. Middle of the day a stag sparks up less than 100m from us, I stayed back and roared as he snuck in. A lengthy 40min stalk before I heard the shot, he said he saw it 3 times before pulling the trigger! Thought we'd missed it until we found a very heavy blood trail, almost 1km later we finally found him thanks to my dog and was still alive crook sitting down. Absolutely wrapped to get a 12 out of this area! He was stoked beyond belief too. Top effort from him pulling that stalk off, cunning bugger didn't make it easy only roaring very occasionally. We're thinking the shot only hit an artery.

Nice one. Got a couple with similar tops, probably related if they're from where I think they are
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

Shot this buck early on Saturday morning. He came out off the bush and straight to me after a few calls.
