Big bodied 13 from yesterday, snapped Bez. Was another even better stag nearby that had one whole beam snapped off from above the trez so I guess they'd been going at it

Got a young baby at home this year so things were restricted to one morning hunt for myself and one evening hunt with the old man. Stags were roaring hard and I mucked up 2 other opportunities before catching up with this young 11 and one of his girlfriends, made for a heavy pack and a long "morning" (started at 4am, got to the ute at 3pm)
Then almost finished it off perfectly that evening with the old man on his biggest fallow buck but we never could find it in the bush after his shot, no blood though so appears to have been a clean miss.

We actually had to stop hunting last month as the game dealer was not taking any more as he was full up.
With everyone trying to finish their hind culls on the shooting grounds that they could not get to while game bird shooting was still going on.

Amazing what they can survive and then go onto thrive. I shot a half decent fallow buck last night, light was fading and he was 350yds out in some scrubby stuff and I thought he looked like he was limping which I put down to been fighting, however when we got over to him it turned out he had three legs! One back leg gone at the hock, he was pretty old probably 8ish and was in great condition, probably lost his leg to a run in with a fence years back, managed to get side by side to him so he's hanging whole in a mates chiller at the moment will get some photos before we skin and butcher him.Quote:

Took my boys out for a overnighter last night, and we got this fella right on dark. Boys spotted him before me, he came trotting in on us so it was pretty exciting! Gutted him in the dark, to go back and get decent photos this morning. Pleased I made that decision now. This morning we could have shot a couple more and roared in a decent red as well, so a pretty memorable little mission for the lads [emoji1690]
