Doc is full of these clowns. In fact I am positive it is how they hire people for certain roles.

    Job requirements:

    1. A degree or masters in anything but reality would be benificial.

    Translation :

Must be a, brainwashed fucktard that can count to 30,000 on one hand.

I have a term called educated idiots for just these sort of people. They are like an apprentice that finishes their time and thinks they know everything but are really just good enough to start learning.
Only thing wrong is they are far more in control and far more destructive.

Dont bag degrees too much, I have a couple and have made a good living out of them over the years

There is a trust deficit for the department to repair first.
I feel hunters have more in common with Ms Sage than the previous government- that is we donít seek a price on the head of everything ( AATH under the last govt) greens share a love of wild places. Cull if needed Iíd rather see low numbers, healthy environment and no AATH overflying me in the back country than out of control numbers and rich tourists getting precedence. Tahr wonít be eradicated any time soon.
    Yeah politics
Well said Ethos. Achieving those objectives should be our goal. What I fear most is the actions of idiots who for example release Wallaby's, pigs, Sika into other areas . Thieves who shoot and steal livestock. Firearms owners who shoot up road signs. This is the stuff that the public hears about and sees, this is the public face of hunting for a lot of the public. So it then becomes easy for Govt departments to treat genuine hunters as a fringe group.

From the minutes 9.Financial report shows a balance of only $15490.06 - shortfall by 2019 if there is no levy (on the trophies taken by overseas hunters) or alternative funding.
12a Himalayan Tahr Control Plan ' There is no current control plan and the latest plans are for 2015' The next plan will be for the whole of the Tahr range.
Also of interest is a mention of CWD a prion disease that would doom deer hunting if it ever got here and a 'Parliamentary Hunt' for MP's at a Hunt Park property.

Nope but I get tired of the bluster and the emotional use of anti doc rhetoric such as the title of this thread. I have never ever had a problem getting information from the Twizel office. They have also done their upmost to give out accurate information. Never been a hint of trying to hide anything from hunters. The opposite in fact as demonstrated by the note left in the Macaulay hut at the end of a cull in that catchment which pointed out areas they had seen good bulls that had not been shot. Delivered by airmail.. hand written by the shooter.

This is well worth a read if anyone wants some insights in to DOC management issues and crossed purposes.

It would be great to see conservation embraced (culls when needed) but business well down the list of priority (AATH done away with)
as far as tahr go. On current form we will get the worst of both worlds

So which areas are they shooting? The article was short on any detail.
Put the keyboard down. Now kick it over here.

The title of this thread is 'Tahr cull Doc Betrayal' What has Doc Betrayed if there is no current Tahr management plan ? The Conservation Act - which governs Doc does not say that Doc has to do anything to aid or promote recreational hunting. Read 'Part 6 section 38' Titled 'Hunting etc' . This is a bad situation for RH.There should be a current plan just as there should be protection of recreational hunting opportunities on public land but there is not, only provision to allow Recreational Hunting.
In a nutshell, we are in a bad place. Unless we collectively do something about it nothing will change.
Have a look at the protection given under the Conservation Act to Trout and other salmonids and recreational fishing. Hunting needs to occupy a similar position under the law.
