    Tips for Hapatuna

    Hello all your knowledgeable chaps
    Heading to hapatuna in the comming weeks and id love to nail my first white tail, any tips and suggestions? Only really hunted the canterbury and central otago open areas so bush is new ball game.

    Don't bother taking a small boat - there is no fishing in the bay.
    I found getting up into a tree and waiting (and waiting, and waiting) worked.

    Waiting goes well with white tail but no fishing really?

    I fished very successfully just off the rocks on the western end of the block. Plenty of big blue cod in only 1-2 meters of water. Could see them from the surface. Def take a rod or hand line in your pack

    Hunting wise, I hunted the high parts of the block pretty unsuccessfully, saw only small amounts of deer sign but managed to stalk a couple of deer on the river flats. That was about 6 or 7 years ago
