Anyone been from waitaewae to otaki hut? Just wondering what the walk from a to b is like and roughly how long it’ll take. If you’ve happen to see any deer along the way?

I don't know of any "Otaki Hut"... Do you mean how long from Otaki Forks campsite/roadend to Waitewaewae hut ?

I’ve not been there so I’m just going off what the map calls it. Looks like a nice walk from waitewaiwai into there.

Appears to be a hut but maybe used for doc workers or something not public use as such

So doc has a campaign of removing huts from back country,then starts putting new ones there that the peasants aren't allowed to use?

There is a well stocked DOC workers hut up that way, was unknown by the mobs until hut baggers thought it best to boost about over the net to gain self importance brownie points among the online tramping forum mob.
