    Wanaka roar blocks - chamois?

    Hi all,

Like many others i’m looking at putting in for a wanaka ballot with a mate. I’m not 100 percent sold on it but wouldn’t mind a look around just to be in amongst some history.
What are the chamois numbers like in those blocks in general? I’m assuming extremely low to low like the deer?

Send a pm if you like, I know people are tightlipped around these blocks.
Not asking for any sort of spot x either.

    Cheers
    hebe

I would say be more chamois than deer, just look in chamois spots, steep and scrubby.

    Heya mate,

We had cotters creek this year first period.

I think we saw approx 20 chammy all up (hunting in two groups) in the 4-5 days we could hunt (rained for like 36 hours). Happy to send you through a map of where we camped / saw them / access routes to the areas etc.

Sweet fuck all deer though. Tons of established tracks in the forest leading up to the tops, potentially tons of heli pressure ?

Yeah heard about that fella.. seems like a bloody menace.

For folks from the Wanaka/Hawea area. Does that mean that all the tops hunting around there is pretty rubbish as they are under so much pressure?
