Having stalked sambar in both counties I reckon stalking them in Aussie is more fun. But that maybe due to the novelty of hunting in another country.

Yes, our biggest heads have gone bigger than Aussies, (many moons ago, hard going to match some of the early BOP heads taken) but your average head over there is better. If that makes sense?

Yeh I know what you mean, I saw a good one shot in NZ about 2 years ago and then a cracker at the guides house in NZ that his mate had taken in 2011 as well. Like any deer though I spose the goodns are few and far between.
They are awesome fun to hunt here though, when you don't pick the same spot as a bunch of hound hunting morons who spook the whole fucking area up.

Yea they are cool but im not into heads and to be honest all the real good heads around where I live are either sold or poached. There is only so many sausages one can eat before he needs a steak and sambar steak is a bit hit and miss.
But Yes they are very impressive animals

I'm glad someone else has said that. Everyone seems to think sambar meat is the ducks guts and I find it very hit and miss myself.
Chital is by far the best venison I've tasted. Apparently hog deer is even better, can't wait to chomp on some of that one day!

I'll say it, doesn't worry me. Flavour, good, texture, well....

The only Hoggy I've eaten was very similar to NZ fallow. Tender, but boring

Mate there's a big chance that you'll never have a month like that again in your hunting life. Maybe in a little while you'll realise what you've done is no small feat, be proud of it mate! well done
