    22LR Scope

    Hi guys and guyettes!

If this has been asked before, I apologise.

In search of opinions for a scope for 22LR PRS and Field Shooting type activities.

    Criteria:
    1. Must fit into an average (COVID-era) budget.
    2. Durability important. Weight not important.
    3. Must be easily available in NZ (so no self-imported from Optics Planet etc.)
    4. Will be used with ONLY 40gr Lead Target type ammo.
    5. Assume that rifle it goes onto has above average mechanical accuracy.

    Shoot!
The Truth shall make ye fret.

something 4x32 or better still 6x40mm is ideal...a 3x9x40mm works well but will be overkill unless you do quite a bit past 50 yards.
my 2 both wearing 6x at the moment.

A mil-dot type reticle is your friend, and if you want to dial past 200M then you'll need the adjustment of a 30mm tube. AO or SF is pretty important too. My current scope of choice - A Sightron S111 2.5-10x44 - good glass, not too big (its still a big scope on a 22) and not too expensive, everyone seems to be wanting more power these days but 10x on a 22 is good to the 300 or so most comps seem to get out too. A forumite here sold me a Athlon ARES BTR 4.5-25x50 that he'd run on a 22 (lucky bugger had a Vudoo) but I felt it was too big for most 22's

300-500 yards for 22PRC in the US so may want a little more magnification
    and plenty of elevation adjustment.

I should add that a guy who wins/places regularly at the Jungle Lane and SparrowHawk shoots a 3-9x40 Nikko Stirling Panamax with the 1/2 Mildot reticle. He has tested these scopes and they are pretty good. $200

I have been looking for something aswell i have found a few different options most with AO or side focus for range use
The Hawke Vantage range seem pretty good from 3-9x40, 4-12x40, 4-16x44 $250-400
    Vortex crossfire 2 3-9x40 or 4-12x40 AO $300-$380
    Sightron s1 3-9x40 or 4-12x40 AO $360 Plus

Theres others around like the burris droptine or nikon prostaff with 22 reticle but I would prefer adjustable parallax
Vixen was another one mentioned to look at

    Great information. Thank you guys.
I certainly have a lot more focus now for my further research.

If looking at Nikko Stirling, The Airkings are good value to if you can find one...Usually around $200....

Bushnell 2-9 x 22lr with tactile adjustments / side parallax, a drop mark reticle, didn't cost the earth, ticks all the boxes. Not overly light for what it is, but compact
and well made. Bought it to go on a Bno model 2 but didn't happen as the eyepiece diameter end obstructed the bolt throw. Have put it on another 22, hasn't missed a beat, glass for the price is impressive.

I use a Hawke Vantage 3-12x44 with half mildot. its about $400 from Youngs Airguns in Auckland.
It has closed turrets but the mildot will run to 100mm (not 200m).
I think you'll need a higher grade scope for dialling eg Airmax. check your elevation calculations.

    vx1 3-9x40 with LR duplex
with subs the dots help a lot with getting consistency out further without having a dial
best bit is they can take the hits that 22s get and still hold zero/if they break you get a replacement
