284 in REM 700 long action

    Hey guys,

Just wondering who has built a 284 off a Rem 700 LA and if there's any potential issues?

Have a spare action and stug stock sitting here that needs using and as I'm all set up for 284 seems like the right choice.

Need to get my ass off the couch and see if it feeds well but just looking for any feedback.

Also is a M16 style extractor worth doing?

    Cheers

    Yep I have one.

Aside from having fluting done on the bolt and the trigger done the action itself is a standard Floorplate stainless one.

It works fine as is, holds 4 rounds, make sure you put each round in the mag all the way to the back of the magazine otherwise its not always 100% reliable but I think that's more due to the case design itself.

That's what I like to here.

Did you have the standard trigger improved or replace it with a aftermarket jobby?

Mines just a bog standard trigger.

Breaks at a very nice 2.5lb ish.

Action was a 270 originally so it was a case of a re barrel with a model 7 7mm08 barrel and ream out. Then thread for suppressor.

    Job done.

    Vx6 3-18x44 on top.
    Dpt with stainless baffle.
    B&C red spiderweb stock.
    Burris zee rings
Stock LOP increased by 2" for my gangly arms.

    Hope this helps ya

Have a 6.5/284 on a LA R700. Feeds well no need to do the m16 extractor unless you want to spend money. Std 700 extractors are good for 1000’s of rounds and replaceable for a few dollars.

Maybe if you can find or order the part, quite a few people have replaced the standard extractor due to the original parts being unobtanium at the moment.
