    7mm08 bushpig shorty

    Hey guys and gals,

Looking to turn my 7mm08 into a bush pig, wanting to go 16-18" depending on what is more versatile. Leaning toward 18" to retain a bit of velocity for out to 350ish.

What lengths are people running and what pills? What velocities are you getting?
Im looking at either 110 or 120 ttsx and push em hard. Then if need be a 140 ballistic tip for the slightly further shots if people arent running the ttsx that far.

Cheers guys, happy lockdown, get through it and stay safe during, then after too.

16 inch- struggling to get 2550 with 130g projectiles.Which is fine for inside 200.

Id stick to 18 to 20 if could do it again.

I run a 15" 708 model 7. I did run 120 nbt at near 2900 fps but have changed to 140 nbt at 2700 fps, it holds more energy out much further. Id be happy out to 400 odd yards.

    CFE223 is the go.

18", which I went for because I wanted 3K from 120grn and 2.8K from 140 grn. Have achieved both and its as good a little all rounder as I could hope for. Wako A7.

Personally wouldn't go shorter than 18" with 7mm08. If you want 16" look at changing to 308.

I run a Kimber 708 cut to 16" running Barnes 120gn TTSXs - very happy with it, drops everything it points at. I run a can on it and the total length is still short enough to be handy in the bush. Went to 18" for the first cut but it was too long with the can.

How hard on the suppressors is it with powder burning into them, and do quicker powders mostly burn in the barrel?

16inch probably ideal handling wise. I had 18inch 308 was still bit lumpy with the can on.
I prefer bare rifles now at factory length though am bound to change my mind again
