What optics do people have on there AR's?

I have a 2-7x33 leupy on my 6.8 upper that is well suited to hunting

Looking for something on my 223 upper? would prefer something in 3-9x40 or 4-12

    Have two ARs

NF NXS 5.5-22 x 56 on 20 inch barreled upper ( only fired 10 rounds thru this one )

Burris Sig Select 1.5-6 x 40. On 16 inch barreled one, (Most used )
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

I allowed myself to be talked into a Sightron S-Tac 2.5-27.5x56 IRMOA scope.
Its HUGE, but this is a varmint AR (even the manufacturers description says so!) and it is AMAZING.

    Z6i 1-6 on a 12" 300blk
    Z5 5-25 on a 22" .223
    Vx3 2.5-8 on a 16" .223
    Nf 1-4 on a 12" 9mm
    Vx3 4-12 on a 16" 6.8spc
    Vx3 2-7 on a 8"(permently attached can) .22

Had a few others, acog' sand red dots etc but that's what I run now.

The z6i is by far the best and if I could justify the $$$$ they would all have one.
The z5 is so so good in the varmint rifle-a extra ten min over the monarch it replaced

It really depends what you want to do. I like the ACOGs a lot, currently have ACOG TA01NSN and an Elcan SpecterDR 1/4x, would also look at a Leupold Mk6 1-6x. I don't like big/heavy ARs or long barrels or large heavy optics. Dot sights are great for up-close and personal fast shooting of larger stuff, but not great for most of what I or most hunters would do with an AR. I like irons too.

Agree with gimp, red dots only work up close-eg well within subsonic .22 range at bunnys. And that's not really what a AR is for. Well,it's not what I have them for anyway.

For what it's worth I feel that good glass beats magnification any day.

The more practice you get the less magnification you need as well. That said scopes keep but skill takes upkeep.

Buy the best you can-it's the most important part of the rifle after the nut behind the but.
O, and after you work out what you can afford, save for another few pays while you find something better second hand
