    BSA Hunter Scope Rings

    Hi Team.
I’ve just picked up a lovely BSA Hunter in 7x57. From what I can glean from the internet the dovetails are 19mm. So from the BSA owners out there, what are the best/better mounts out there for this rifle? The scope I’m intending to put on is a Swarovski Z3 3-9 x36.
    Cheers Gilly

I have got a set of low Parker hale rings that will fit perfectly.

As another option = They are the same width as the CZ/Brno large centrefire (i think the mini actions were smaller?) but without the recoil stop.

I personally would go with @garyp's offer, as they are period appropriate.

    @Mathias here you go.
You will notice that one of the existing rings has had the screw that tightens it to the dovetail broken. It has been replaced with a bolt whilst maybe effective is not that great aesthetically. Hence why I’m after a new set of rings that @garyp has kindly offered to me.
I’m not sure what scope I’m going to put on it - maybe a vintage Pecar if I can find one.

Nice. If you put a vintage Pecar on you'll more than likely need 26mm rings.

Nice , Take Gary up on his offer.
The low PH rings are a good match for the comb height. All the other "low" rings I've used are significantly higher about the same as the medium PH.

In my experience the clamp bolts are very brittle.

We tapped some of mine for Allen screws. Looks way better than the screws & nuts I have on others.
The Bruno/CZ rings just need the lug on the side removed.

It's not a BSA Hunter. It's called a BSA Viscount. Now that you have one you are going to have to learn to speak BSA.

Once you have popped off the heads of the screws on those Parker Hale rings that Gary is sending you by overtightening them, the solution is to get Gunworks to fit some Warne CZ550 rings and machine a bolt stop to match.

Checked it out, looked up the markings etc and according to the previous owner, who collects them it is a Hunter Viscount. So we are both correct. Still could be wrong. But it doesn’t matter as I’ve got a lovely old rifle in my all time favourite caliber.

Yeah, those screws are a worry. Have had past experiences many years ago as a much younger version of myself trying to tighten them. It didn’t end well. May well do as you suggested.

Best mounts for a hunter are conetrol mounts if you can still get them.
