Damn, that is hard to narrow down.
The Norinco JW-15 cost $100 and is insanely accurate.
The Zastava 223 cost me $450 scoped and with the addition of a suppressor gives me 11-13mm groups at 100m.
The Savage 243 averages about the same as the Zastava but can do better when I do my bit right.
The Marlin 795 is not quite as accurate as the Norinco but about 0.7" at 50m. It has had a few thousand rounds through it and I have never had a jam.
I'm a tight arse and do a lot of research before I part with money.
Marlin model 60 22or bought off here for a couple of hundred. It's my main gun, love it. Just have to keep the action clean.
Howa 22-250 wearing a falcon menace. Once i stabilised the stock it was great. It's my medium ranger. Never missed a heart beat.

T3 lite in 1:12 .223. Bloody awesome
35 years ago in NSW - Rem 700 22/250 BDL, before I got smart and fitted a 3-9 x 40 early model Leupold on it.
Rem 55gr PSP out of 24" 1:12 barrel - dropped a wallaby, after it hopped twice and fell down dead, hit in the thigh.
Ballistic tells me that the range (factory open sights), aiming approx 4' above it's head, plus about 20" to mid-thigh - 525-575 yds.
Once the scope was on, using the same ammo, dropped Roos out to 450 paces (approx pace length = 1 yd Army) and grouped under 0.25" (5 shots - 1 minute breaks), at 300 yds on the range.
Sporterised barrel used to get 'warm', even then.
Great rifle - another that shouldn't have been sold/traded :TT TT:
Tikka T3 in any calibre really, I've owned a few.
Norinco JW27. Got as a straight swap from GC in the early 90s for a POS Savage Stevens that was actually being dropped off to go to the Gunsmith (again) that would not cycle. Fellow behind the counter did not bother asking why I bought it in and simply offered a swap for a new 22. To which I said Yes before he could change his mind.....( I was about to throw the Savage away and go buy a new one I was that sick of it...)
That JW27 is still one of the most accurate 22s I ever owned.
Weatherby vanguard 7mm rem mag- $560 with a timney trigger and stainless. .8 MOA on factory ammunition, load development and chassis system on the way :-).
1990 made Remington BDL 30 06, 600$ with bases and rings, shoots damn well and consistently with factory 150gr Winchester.
Got a Marlin XS7 .223 for free. Shoots great with everything. Have killed goats at 350m and steel at 500m. Cant complain.
Tikka t3 Wood/SS, SS Opti's, Burris ii, said to have been sighted in only and as new. All for $1000 Buy Now off TM. Shoots 1/2 MOA with 130gr Superformance
Brno mod 2 that I got on here for a few hundred (can't remember exact price, but under $300). Sighted it in with federal 555 box bulk ammo one afternoon with a 4x cheap scope on it and was amazed it did lazy 3/8" groups at 50m if I hold my tongue right. I'll own it for ever I reckon. I often take it to the range when I'm on duty for punters kids to use, when surprise, dad's .243 makes too much pow for them.
Pretty hard to beat a free one for value!
I've had a good run with Savages, probably my favourite one is the Mod.14 Classic 223 that cost me $750 brand new and shoots a variety of different loads into half inch groups more consistently than I can. Even puts the 53gr Vmax and 68gr bthp loads to the same POI at 100yds which makes it easy to switch between them. Smooth action, nice crisp trigger etc.
JW15 wins hands down, they are insanely accurate little rigs and a dime a dozen. Also, had a M70 in 6.5x55 that I got given and once i had the trigger sorted it was a laser, never looked after it very well either as had it through my teens/leaving home years but you could get it out every weekend and know it was going to put the lead exactly where it put it the weekend before.
Bsa sportsman 22 from memory $200ish. Could hit an empty 308 case at 30m everytime! Headshots on rabbits out to 60m quite easily if I did my part
Have to be JW15s. Had a number of them and polished up heaps for other people. Almost all sub 0.5" at 50m. Chop barrels to 16" and polish up action/trigger to bring out the Brno DNA and they are remarkable little hunters. $100-150 at times.
Also picked up quite a few marlin 22s for bugger all - most of them laser sharp.
Stirling mod 20 b/a .22mag. My brother gave it to me. Killed heaps of bunnies. Awesome wee shooter!
.
Every T3 I Ve ever owned and some have been stunning.
I believe the thread was cheap rifles not: I own this many Tikkas(with your hands between your legs moving) and they all go bang. Jesus Christ I don't think a 1300 dollar rifle quite meets the finer points of ;"cheap rifle".
I've bought a few cheap rifles and found out they were cheap for a reason.
put it this way none I have kept!

I found an old Lithgow model 12 .22 repeater, in a farmers shed and I asked the farmer what he used it for.
He said I could have it for a $, done deal said I. It had the bolt arm braised on after it fell out of his ute, so him and his son brass welded the handle back onto the bolt.
It was the most accurate rifle that I have ever owned. Sorry to have lost it on one of my many moves interstate.
I was given a JW15a that seems to shoot everything pretty well. I bought a Marlin X7 of trade me for around $400 from memory that with a little work is shooting very well. No 1/2 inch tack driver but very reliable and consistent - all the old man needs.
My younger owned a Remington 770 for a while - that thing was incredibly..... shit!
Got a Krico B/A from a friend for a boned out deer, it shoots pretty good, Yes those JW 15 rifles are certainly good shooters, mine was a $100 also it has shot many thousands of pest animals over the years only thing replaced is the extractor.
Marlin 917 -V was $500 including a Red field scope.
Shoots little pin point lazers as far as I can hold over.
Em332, for the price they were. Such a nice .22
I see GC now trying to sell them for $700 second hand.
Ruger American. 6.5 Creedmoor.
VX-3 - 3.5x10x40 with CDS.
Off a pack, no bipod.
100 yard 5 shot groups.
Attachment 54036
Attachment 54037
627 yards. 3 shot groups.
Attachment 54038

Bang for ya buck... A Stirling 15-shot, semi-auto .22lr that I bought off a mate for $100, complete with scope and suppressor. That was my first rifle waaaay back in the early '80's. It was accurate and not too fussy about which ammo you fed into it. I sold that rifle about 10 years later for $120 to fund the purchase of my most cherished smoke stick... a BRNO .222 Fox Mod Il. While it's not the cheapest rifle I've bought, HOLY MOTHER OF CHRISTMAS it's accurate!
Howa .223, half moa out the box. Was $749 new a few years ago from memory.
Second hand CZ452 was $450 from TM with 4-12 scope and hard case, puts cci target ammo through same ragged hole at 50m, have shot 2 perfect 100 point scores at deerstalkers f class.

My best is Walther smallbore rifle I was given. Stock was a bit rough but I fixed that up. Accuracy as expected
Winchester 320 was given as my 1st rifle at 15yrs still have it and it still consistently shoots 9/10 head shot rabbits out to 50yds with subs
A Stirling 1500 .22 Magnum. Cost me $150. It shot like a laser. Had a very light trigger which aided off hand shooting. When I used to feed it RWS 40 Gr ammunition which generated a genuine 2000 fps at the muzzle, it killed all out of proportion to its ballistics.
I have a couple.
Jw 15 full barrel suppressor is a track driver. Bought new for $450.
Ruger American ss in 223. Was $750 when I bought it new. Think it was 1/2"

It is interesting to look through the list of 'cheapest, most accurate and reliable rifles' people mention in this thread - some patterns that confirm well known facts:
* Alot of Norinco 22s - JW15s, JW27 and EM332. Consistent over-performers for the price. JWs often scruffy little buggers but polish up to be hunter gems.
* Alot of marlin rimfires plus some centrefires. Great rimfire barrels - always bang for the dollar
* A number of Savage centrefires - again sharp shooters.
* CZ/Brno 22s - should be in any good rimfire list
* Stirling 22s - can be good, can be awful - some goods ones here.
Useful guidelines..
Just picked up a savage 243 and weaver for 500 so far lookn like a super accurate rig
Best bang for buck is my Steven's Savage .243.
Paid $640 and shoots sub inch at 200m. Haven't had a single deer get away and will never part with it.

My SKS shot really well, always worked when you pulled the trigger. Killed umpteen goats and a deer.
Well this is a tale of two Norinco's, I was going to start a new thread but this fits nicely in here. A warning to the more sensitive types the story starts out bad but has a happy ending ( spoiler alert )
Several years ago I decided that despite the fact I had a excellent .22 already there was a itch in my balls that needed scratching and by justifying to myself that the stunning .22 I had was too good to use as an every day shooter ( isn't that what their fucken made for, duh ) so after much research and postings and reading reviews I decided that the best bang for my $ was the Norinco JW 15, hell even Mudgripz gave it his mighty praise. I was hooked and choose a stunning example of Chinese engineering , the machining marks and grease were barely noticeable ( if you stood back 10ft ) and the grain from the hand selected wood from the Monkey fuck tree was..... rather plain actually....but but my point is it was one of the better looking examples I had seen.
I was so convinced it would be a tack driver I polished the bolt ( with Toothpaste, fuck that gun smelt nice, mint flavor from memory ). The trigger was polished and the scope mounted with more care than a Nasa launch. I was in love, and I don't even have a thing for Asian chicks when surfing porn ( disgusting habit ) but this Chinese hottie and me were gonna fuck some rabbits ..big time.
Then like that Asian hottie on the inter web thingy it turned out to be a 65 yr old balding pom on the other end , the thing wouldn't shoot, it grouped like ....well like a bloody Ruger 10/22 ... I was shattered, my love affair was destroyed, I was left with a limp dick and a dud rifle ( and they say God exists ). The Chinese harlot was returned for a refund but the the damage was done never would I buy Chinese porn I mean guns again.
Forward 8 yrs and I am living in Cromwell the rabbit Vega's of the south and my itch has returned, bloody Mudgripz and other are all wanking on about the budget Norinco, ohhh it's so great, ohhh I shot a rabbit at 600mtrs from the hip, bastards had me looking at Asian porn..... fuck...I mean guns again. Now I am chewing through some rounds living down here and really did think I need a work horse. Off to the local sports store " what ya got " oh that's cheap. Salespeople love me ... anyway on the shelf was a recently traded JW15.... rifle, mag, rings, scope, suppressor $200....POS I thought, even the wood from the Monkeyfuck tree was plain, however with my Ninja like negotiating skills I had the reassurance that if it shot like it's ugly sister from 8 yrs ago I could return it.
Now this time round I didn't polish the bitchs bolt ( shame cause the other rifle always made me feel like I had fresh breath ). It was dirty ( that's how I like my women ) so I pulled the bolt down and then started noticing a few things. It was filthy, sub sonic ammo, suppressor never removed, but once I cleaned it all up there were no dings or bruises on the wood, crown looked excellent trigger felt pretty good, 2 stage and nice let off, no rust and rifling sharp and clean. Almost like it's done 200 - 300 rounds and nothing much else. Salesman did say the the scope would be rubbish, a little beaten up, that's cool but we will mention that later.
So sight in time, not even on the paper ( A3 ) at 30 mtrs, fuck me here we go again . Ended up shooting little rocks in a paddock at 30 mtrs to see were it's going. Adjustments made, hmmm, more finer adjustments, well well , do a test group, 40mtrs , 3 shots in 12mm, shit this thing shoots, really well. Had a hunt today, still learning the trigger but rolling rabbits at 10 - 90 mtrs .. ohhh and by the way, the cheap scope ( I didn't mention it in the shop ) is an older Burris Fullfeild 2-7 made in the USA, the body's lost alittle paint but the optic's are awesome.... god I love Chinese porn.....I mean rifles....
