    Yeah, the felt tips on the Tipton are the way to go. You need something that absorbs the gunk and something that the gunk sticks to so you can then bring it out of the action. Brushes don't go as good a job of that.
    I occasionally stick my borescope in for a peek and the Tipton is quite effective.

    Got a couple of cut down, cleaning rods, with a chamber size cotton mop, which I use a piece handy towel wrapped around to give the chamber and neck a hit. Depends on whether I have left product in the barrel, and which way up I have stored the rifle.

    20gauge shotgun brush on part of a rod in the drill. Sometimes 12ga

    Use an old Jones Custom Products action cleaning tool kit that I bought over thirty years ago. Takes the dental rolls for cleaning the lugs and includes a short rod that takes a bronze brush that you wrap the appropriate sized patch around to wipe out any oil from the chamber after barrel cleaning. Use a small jar of Pro Gold special anti gall grease for the locking lugs that contains enough to last ten lifetimes of heavy firearm use.

    You lube the locking lugs?? Sacrilege.
