Thread: Dual purpose scopes

Yeah mate Shane's ate its self a few years ago on the tops and I had one that wouldn't hold zero despite loving Swarovski gear.
The other thing I noticed when doing lots of guiding was some people have tremendous trouble on angles getting a sight picture in a Z5 something most of us take for granted

Hi Tahr, the 3 ring ballistic turret is quite tall and narrow and on a couple ive seen it wobbles in your fingers.
A mate had one that failed twice in some way and he changed it out to a leupold.
But through his scope i could see a deer at last light i really couldnt make out through my S&B so the glass and light quality is excellent.
I expect this scope would be rugged with low closed cap turrets. Eg for a flat shooting calibre like 243 or 7RM out to say 250m.
The plain reticle is very nice.

Ive replaced the ballistic turret on both my Z5 with a MOA turret from Outdoorsman in the States. They are good. Have dialled one of them to 475 yards and shot a pig ok. Yes glass is great.

I’ve got an ‘element industries’ moa turret on my z5, nz made, excellent product.

I run a Leupold VX5 3-15x44 Firedot Duplex reticle on my 6.5creedmoor Tikka for exactly what you're trying target shooting / hunting combo, good magnification, clear glass and adjustable parallax for the long range and small stuff, tough well made scope, bit more weight than some single purpose options but still light enough to carry around the hills, on a low magnification for bigger game. Gathers light great.
I was reluctant to splash the cash on it at first but really happy I did in the end.
