a member put up a Remington 788 in 308 up this morning but no price or photo now its gone of Buy and sell but if it comes up again and get that at right price a damn good starter rifle - they are basic but shoot way beyond their looks - if it has a good barrell it could be an absolute tackholer -I have one and it shoots - they are held in very high regard by shooters worldwide - use it for a few years and later a Sako - the 788 will not loose much in value there ya go could not recommend highly enough - but if you could stretch to the rifle offered by Ranger 888 at $1500 very sought after and lovely rifles

Plan to have my Howa 7mm08 relisted as a combo - rifle, suppressor, (functional but cheaper) Nikko Sterling 4-12 x40 scope, with shipping option via Hunt Fish if interested. Just waiting on rings to assemble for some pics.

If you want a tool to do a job most of the main brands will do it. If your wanting to win a beauty pagent theres less to choose from

This seems like a good deal for someone starting out, swap out the scope somewhere down the line and I'm sure you'd get a good run out of it. Disclaimer I've never actually owned a Browning.

All rifles rust if you put them away wet and never clean them. Try cleaning thouroughly and oiling inside, outside and under the (flaoting) barrel and that rust myht should disappear.

My stainless Howa has only ever rusted where it was dirty or bloody.
As long as I wipe the gunk off it after use its perfectly fine like most rifles.
My blued Ruger M77 seems pretty damn resilient while my CZ 455 seems to rust if I even look at it.

For a starter rifle, I'm a big fan of Howas for a solid affordable option and theres all the options out there if you want to upgrade it in future.
I've had my Howa Mini for something like 7 years and the only thing left completely original is the bolt but its my #1 rifle that I'll never sell.

well yes whats bad if it has a good barrell then what are we dealing with at 100yds 3 inch group versus under an inch- when on a budget you are not going to get a Sako 90 is one - all do it what do you like another way of putting all this what is genuinely bad - in my experience two stand out - the old semi auto Ruger mini matic shockers - the old jungle carbine 303 terrible - some of the early BSA especially the CF 2 did not shoot overly well - what else - and one has favourites for me Shultz and Larsen its all great fun

My first rifle was a Howa. Then got a 2nd hand Tikka, now have 3 of them. Absolutely love Tikkas, silky smooth action, reliable feeding, and accurate. Lots of people rate the Howas to be fair, but the actions do rust badly (Mine was only on the outside, and didn’t seem to effect feeding/ function in any way). If you do go Howa, make sure you take the stock off and let the underside of action dry out properly after you’ve been out in wet conditions.
