    Harris Bipod

I need some advice please. I have lost my old Harris bipod and need a new one. It will be used on a 7 rem mag for the odd unlucky deer and a 243 for deer and vermin. Whats the best Harris bipod to get and where is the best place to get one??

    Cheers guys.

I got a 9"-25" swivel bipod. Harris of course.
Bloody awesome bit of kit. Great for prone shooting and also kneeing in long grass etc.

I got mine from Dix's in Timaru (Cheers Muzr )

2nd on cambo there, I have a 9-13 model s with the swivel and you can't go wrong. 25" one would be great though!

I've had two Remington ones fall apart on me now. The latest one was replaced by the distributor and I got a tactical model. The only difference being a different handle to tighten/loosen the ability to swivel. Will cough up for a proper one next time.

Seriously looked at them & did plenty of "net" research on them.

Wasn't all that impressed with them, may have been the model ?

Haven't used one on a rifle though.

The price was a little steep for me to consider replacing some of my Harris's with them.

The atlas would be nice if it had a better mounting option. A rail on the front of a hunting rifle is not ideal.

A rail is awesome, it's legit QD and you can just put on a very small segment. They're much stronger than a harris, more adjustable, legit QD, don't slide when you lean into them, have movement for pan and cant, aren't a "rigid" design so they don't build up uneven tension, can buy leg extensions for like $30 that take 10 seconds to install if you need a longer bipod, weigh about the same as a Harris.

By the time you buy the Harris, Podloc, and bipod spikes that KG suggested, you're nearly at the price of an Atlas anyway.

I've got a couple of Harris bipods that just sit in my rangebox now

I'd have one if it didn't require a rail on my stock

Yes, it turns out that a rail doesn't intrude in any way on the function of the rifle
