Thread: Identify this Husqvarna for registration

Hi all

They get upset abut this rifle and cant register it, apparently I have to send photographs to the Police once they contact me.

Its a Husqvarna 3006 that is a real hybrid

1. Stock might not be original, it looks like it was originally off a BSA Monarch or similar due to the flared hardwood cap on the pistol Grip
2. The trigger is a Timney (no safety)
3. The barrel is a Winchester 3006 retrofitted to this rifle
4. No serial number so either pre 1968 and or the serial numbers were on the barrels for these (A made up number has been engraved underneath the receiver)
5. The receiver says HVA ACTION-MADE IN SWEDEN

What is it, this rifle really upsets the registration people when you call it an HVA Husqvarna.

The bluing and bare metal is mint, fantastic for a 50+ year old rifle …….. (yeah I might sell it)

Youre not wrong there Barry - I've even got a genuine original barrel for it, waiting for the day I come across a good donor rifle.

Make me an offer, the bluing is superb and I am starting to think stock might be original

Ha I wish-- I have my last rifles probably---and would need funds why well I would want to suppress and rebarrel to .270 so new barrel suppress that -

Thanks, I have googled every model but no images show a stock even remotely like this but it might be a 1640 action due to those two screw holes on the RHS of the receiver above the bolt

The action is a 1600/1640 action, 1600 being for the shorter barrels. So yours is a 1640 cos its got a longer barrel [even tho its a replacement], the serial numbers were stamped just forward of the action on the barrel. The stock looks like it may well be a Husqvarna stock, the top end model that we rarely see here. Your bolt should have the last 4 digits of your serial number engraved on the underside of the bolt, often difficult to see, but give it a light polish and then rub a dirty finger over it. If it was mine I'd be saying its a Husqvarna 1640, serial number XXXX off your bolt, 30-06, 4 shot internal mag.
Or have a local gunsmith engrave some random number on the barrel for a serial number, left side, just forward of the action, just above the stock line. Or use the random number under the action.

Is there a deluxe Designation to add to the 1640?


Also, there is only 1 number under the bolt …. Please see below.

That is nice. If theres any numbers already on the rifle just use those as the s/n, even if its 3006

MC "Monte Carlo" probably, refering to the style of cheek piece on the Stock.
