Importing Muzzloader kit from the states.

    Has anyone done the above?
Im not actually sure they will export to us any more, but there might be workarounds.
Im still looking for an Earl Wyatt flinter long rifle or a nice US custom made job but like most things when you want one they have all gone to ground. Ive looked at the Kibler kits and they have a great reputation for quality and are 95% finished so my limited skill level should hopefully suffice to assemble and finish.

Export is not the problem as much as getting someone to carry them at a realistic price, and a valid NZ Import Permit at this end before the kit is sent. Post is out of the question, not because of any legal reason but just a bunch of PC Karens in the hierarchy.
Sideshow and Micky Duck like this.

i was thinking about buying one while over there but arms office said i had to provide make/model and serial number before going there. so i had to give up on the idea as i knew what i wanted but couldnt supply all info required up front

They will export them by courier no problem, as muzzleloaders are technically not treated as firearms by the US state department.
But on the NZ side you have to get an import permit, so you can receive it here.

    Ok,might be doable then.
Kibler has confirmed they will send it.
Import permit shouldn't be too much of an issue hopefully.
Ill ask but as they are effectively a custom rifle I doubt they will have an issue stamping a serial number somewhere discreet, if they dont serial them by default.
At what its going to cost,Im not opposed to driving to Auckland customs to pick it up,assuming thats possible.

The other thing to think about, is that there is a maximum length for USPS which might be shorter than your Tennessee rifle. You might have to consider a duffle cut. Or figure a carrier that will do it and talk to them about that.
