Leupold scope help, Need a Policeman!!!

Hi all, i recently picked up a couple of ex police (armed offenders?) Leupold Mark 4, 2.5-8 x 36 MR/T scopes. I got them for next to nothing so don't mind spending money if needed but unsure if I'll have to. the turrets are Custom as seen in pictures for .308 168 grain SMK but i suspect the lower numbers on the turret are in MIL and the top big numbers are set up like standard Leupold CDS in 100,150,200m ect... so in my mind i can just throw a strip of black tape around top numbers, zero and change my drop sheet to Mil not Moa? Anyway, makes sense in my mind but all ears if anyone has more information? also if anyone wants to let me know how to upload smaller pics I'd be happy to.

    Cheers.

Use same load....zero for hundy, try at 200-300 and it will be perfectly clear what dial means....clamp rifle in vice and tootoo...in theory you could do it without firing a shot by comparing book value drops with turret markings.

Ok so the ranges won't work for new rifle BUT click values still correct..those stickers shown the other day would solve that. Too easy to poke the numbers given on scope cap into ballistic programme and work it backwards...but in reality you already know answer, just ignore the range markings unless they align with yours...

Actually easier still.the clicks on side are same as on top lol. Stick a note scope/ collimeter on barrel and it will be blindingly obvious what values are lol

surely there's a policeman/woman on here that has used one though? anyone in law enforcement that has used one should know if it is mil or custom on lower scale as well? side is easy, 0.1 MIL/100m

Paint over the info on the turret caps, theyre simply a Leupold scope with mil clicks rather than moa. Put your own data in a suitable app and dial accordingly.

The bottom numbers are obviously the click adjustments, being that the whole numbers are ten increments apart. That’s also the standard format, clicks on the lower scale, to line up with the zero mark, distance up top.

I am not 100% sure but some of those scopes had 1/2 Moa on the vertical and maybe quarter Moa on the horizontal.
I don’t know for the mil versions

The bottom markings are in .1 mil. It says it clear as day. The top are meters for the load. Make up a mil range card for your new load and hit the range to validate. Job done!
