Thread: Long range rig to double for target and hunting

What range do you intend to shoot ? 1000 yards is a bloody long way for a shot on an animal. If you want dual purpose hunt and gongs rifle I’d go 7mm and keep the weight and recoil manageable. I’ve got a 280ai 24 in bbl that’s 6lb bare rifle with brake. That’s pushing 162 AMAX at 2980fps plenty to get to 1000yrds. Would I attempt a shot on animal at that range, probably not. Or 7mm RM or even better 7mm Blaser mag but more weight on magnums. 7mm Blaser mag gets me 3060 fps with 180 VLDs
