yeah it was good fun - were you there when some years before at a range up the Wanganui river for the novelty shoot at end of day they put two old wang computors out about 50 metres away on old tables and said anyone who hated these now your revenge - well about 30 lined up with .222 .223 thru to 45-70 -50 cal musket 12 gauge buckshot - AR15,s semi auto .22 you name it and fire - first salvo both computers got blown of table and then got blown down range twisting and screaming - good fun

Started my fullbore shooting 57 years ago at the Upok range. I remember some of the "old " guys using never nickel. Was it a Parker Hale product?
Those "old" guys were in actual fact younger than I am now.

First firearm was an AYA SxS 12g shotgun......Got it on my 11th birthday. Cost 34 Pound. Used it for Upland game and waterfowl. Put tens of 1000's of shells through it shooting birds in the family vineyard. My old man made me take all my money out of my 'Postbank' account which came to 21 pound....he then loaned me 13 Pounds and in return I had to work for him to pay it off..took me 3 years working most weekends! Retired it in about 1988 and sent it to a gunsmith who restored it back to almost new by rebluing, tightening the action and restoring the wood stock including the checkering. Havent fired it since but have fondled it on a regular basis. Soon as I pick it up and break the action, I am transported back to happy times.....
My own 12g, our English setter, vineyards full of birds and pheasants ( during game season) and the smell of freshly fired CAC paper cartridges.

Life was simple in those days.....sigh.....

If I break the rules slightly, I was gifted a Maverick 88 when I was a teen. So about 17 years.

With my own hard earned it would be a tie between my 10/22 and my Mosin (got them at the same time). Swapped a buggered M305 back to reloaders supplies for them. Would be 12 years.

Don't shoot any of them anymore tbh.

@dannyb I've only brought 3 rifles brand new myself and only have one of them now.

Would love to have been the first owner of some of my vintage rifles that I know were in India
I'm not sure though after the last few weeks I've had how it would be living to 170 years old
