Thread: LR precision rifle suppressor

I'm having an LR rifle built and I have yet to decide on a suppressor. I've got a Hardy suppressor on my deer rifle which has worked fine for me but it's the only suppressor I've ever had so I'm not sure how it stacks up to what else is available here.

Any suggestions?

Stay with the HRE hands down lighter and quieter then others ,and they stomp on recoil ..

Hardys or gunworks allgood. Had a play with a dpt the otherday to it was really good. If you.want something different talk to tuiman he does a nice cafbon fiber job looks sick.

FWIW I think its a waste of time to suppress a LR rig. Big, heavy and cumbersome with less recoil taming than a brake. As a LR rifle you should have all the time in the world to put in plugs. You also have access to kiwigreg and his T2/T3s which sound like the shizzle.

What's a T2/T3?

Just his name he's given the brake he makes (Terminator Products?). I have not used one but hear good things.
Once the novelty wears off I really think a brake will be the better choice for a serious LR rifle.
I don't have a lot of faith in any suppressor light enough to contain a decent Magnum regardless of the hype anyone will tell you. But thats just my opinion.

You wouldn't believe it but I have had one go on 223s......No recoil Lol

No heat mirage off the suppressor, much less recoil much more noise

I was thoroughly unimpressed with the last Hardy can I used

Aaah sorry. I was expecting some fire breathing beast with 100g of powder launching a small car for a pill. I like the size of the Hardy then as it is shorter at the muzzle. Everything is always a compromise though with suppressors though.

Brakes are heinously unpleasant to be around. Blow shit everywhere, make it hard for your spotter, and a can reduces recoil sufficiently on cases of reasonable capacity.

I'm not after a can vs brake argument. I'm getting a can. Just deciding on which one.

Trouble is the mates with the brakes in our neck of the woods get the don't bring that F'n thing back ,not much use a LR rig if its not welcome ,land owners that where lucky enough to shoot ,some dry stock others dairy dont enjoy the racket over three or so hours ,may be a little less recoil but the noise has no appeal ..
