Heresy... I think you mis-typed and mean a .222 Sako L461 or BSA mini mauser

As for the wife getting jealous...Im sure she might like a bit of oil "rubbed into her stock with you fingers for an hour or so while watching telly"

Rifle was originally purchased by a fella named Barry Nicholas who was a forest service culler and when that finished up and deer were worth a lot on the hook Barry continued to hunt the weekends for meat animals. Barry was a lefty and it was he who originally deleted the cheekpiece from the stock. He sold his rifle to the forum member who pmd me about 30 years ago and he himself sold it to a friend near Fairlie with a "if you ever sell it, sell it back to me" clause but he was overseas when it came time to move it on so the wife of the previous owner sold it to a local. I bought the rifle which was sold on behalf by a forum member from the very small town where I was told it would have now been located. I did my own wee bit of research and see that Barry passed onto the big hunting ground in the sky in 2013.

Thats a wonderful history. Worth writing down so its never lost.

Linseed

Hopefully boiled linseed oil.

Beautiful, graceful lines on those old BSA rifles. I love handling things like this and wondering what stories they could tell.

Very happy to report shes a shooter! passed the federal blue box test with flying colours, even surprised myself, think that's as good as I'll ever shoot at 100yds with a 4x scope!

yip its a typical EBRG.....great to see it still shoots like they should.

They’re both fine weapons indeed; difficult to beat in terms of weight, handling, and real world accuracy out in the field where shooting positions can be awkward and far from ideal. But the trebly just isn’t in the same league as a 6mm��
