Shultz and Larsen have a great rep for accuracy out of the box

yes agree with that Winchester the new pre 64 action model is a very nice piece of kit - the wood blued Bergara is a very nice action but that wooden stock is horrible - its just to fat - still some carefull stock redesigning would fix that - dont turn your nose up at some of the earlier Tikkas 595and 695 very well made and accurate a little heavy but not stupidly so - and earlier Remington 700 models - they shoot well

Always interesting how others love spending your money.
My take is the same as above post, nice old model rifle which is a proven classic, brno, bsa hunter, older model 70. That sort of thing.
Ps, I've owed one tikka and I thought it was a pos.
I have two zkw 465 and they are a pleasure to hold and look at.
No one is suggesting how this member should spend his money. He simply asked for some advise, and just for your info the old rifle you refer to in my post is actually a brand new Weihrauch in .222rem.

Removable box mag that cant be loaded from the top. Otherwise would fit the requirements nicely.

Begara have a nice wood blued model on the rem 700 type platform helluva lot cheaper than a sako and are supposed to shoot well too.

Yep. Schultz and Larsen. But if you want to shoot rapid fire more than 4 shots carry 2 mags. Accuracy and quality is superb.

    Thanks Guys,

Sako was at the top of my list.
Hadn't really thought about getting a Howa action and getting a stock for it. (A Boyds laminate wouldn't be a bad option)

If money wasn't an issue I would order in high grade Mauser but realistically that isn't an option.

I have a Win M70 which shoots 1.3" all day long with nearly every combination I've tried.
I'll try and save some pennies and in the meantime continue to tinker with the M70.
It may turn out more cost effective to rebarrel it eventually.

    Cheers

Bergara have some nice options. I know a guy who sold his Sako for a Bergara ( not sure which model ) and loves it.
