The reality of it is that you should still be using hearing protection with most suppressed Centerfire rifles.
They will still cause hearing damage but not on the same level as unsuppressed .
I wear hearing protection all the time when shooting at a range or sighting in on the property when multiple shots are fired .
But to be honest the occasional shot from my rifle without hearing protection doesn’t concern me overly and I don’t lay awake at night worrying and wringing my hands about it .
I must add though , I tend to hunt alone so I don’t have to worry about other peoples ears or feelings .
