Options for a swivel screw into a Synthetic stock?

so i bought my first .243 in Jan which yes it was a budget rifle (Mossberg ATR100) as i wanted to make sure i get out and use it a lot before buying a rifle +$1k...
anyhow the first time using it my FIL attached a bipod to sight it in, after approx 5 rounds through it the front little attachment where the bipod was on / where you put a sling ripped half off as it
didnt like the recoil. now i want to attached a bipod & /or sling on it i cant trust the other half which is still attached so need to find a solution.
i went into Gun City and asked for their opinion and my solution at the time was using an "uncle mikes" swivel wood screw as below pic but they said it wouldnt be good and i should just buy a new stock!

obviously i dont want to buy a new stock, so any thoughts on another solutions or would the wood screw swivel be okay?Name: ATR100.PNG

Uncle mikes do a 3/4" machine screw, has a nut on the end. That would be the best bet. You would probably need to reinforce the inside of the stock somehow. A metal plate to spread the load would be good, if it is possible.

As stub says , I have fitted a few to plastic stocks, a washer bent to fit in the stock helps to spread the stress, you may need to shorten the bolt but should be no problem.

I have done this on two plastic stocks, working well so far. A dab of Loctite just to be sure
