First off, Remington 700 has significantly more aftermarket accessories (triggers etc) available. It is easier to find aftermarket stocks, even if you look at NZ stock makers like Ken Henderson etc, they offer options for Remmy, but very rarely Savage. Not sure if this is important for you.

The typical anti Savage comments you always see are "they are ugly" People also tend to either love or hate Accu-triggers. I like them, easy to use a Bic pen spring to get them significantly lighter...

Savage actions have several other advantages:

Floating bolt head design - stupidly easy to dis-assemble the bolt. I have brought in aftermarket bolt heads to change from 308 bolt face to 223 bolt face. Try to that with a Rem700.
Barrel nut - swapping barrels is a piece of piss, screw the other barrel in against a no-go gauge, and Bob is your aunties cousin.
Most Savage rifles shoot extremely well out of the box, it is a pretty common theme.
The changeable bolt head and ease of changing out barrels is certainly an attractive advantage if you are wanting to build a switch barrel rifle, i like that.
    cambo and caberslash like this.
