    Rossi Puma 44mag

Have been offered one of the above for 500 from a mate it’s had two shots down the barrel, pretty keen on it, pretty sure it’s the newer model which has the different safety but have no idea what’s good for a lever action, any thoughts on this rifle?

    What barrel length?

If it is 16" or under, you can’t go wrong for $500, you could buy it and try it, if it doesn’t work out for you, you would probably make at least $300 selling it on.

Picture below shows two 16" and a 20" for comparison. Even the 20" is a bargain at $500 but assuming this will be for bush bashing/pigs, not quite as suitable for task.

Ok well it’s not the top end of lever actions, little bit clunky. But fairly bomb proof, hence being popular with pig hunters. Any tube mag lever action will be a bit tricky to suppress, especially if you want to retain open sights, and once you add the extra length of the suppressor on this one and put an optic on it you kind of defeat the original advantage of the rifle, that being very short, streamlined and easy to carry.
They are fun to shoot and will knock over any beastie inside ~100 yards.

Still a good bush rifle. I’ve got the 16” stainless and I paid $800 odd 20 odd years back. It’s shot plenty of things and they’re safe and reliable as.

thats a solid price, I like my stainless 44, 16" model is very handy, they're pretty stiff out of the box and will benefit from some minor modding to get the action more slick, might have already been done if its used though,
the stock extractor throws the brass annoyingly far so its good to swap the extractor spring for a lighter one.
new ones are stupid money imo, they've crept up in price over the years but are now ~ $1500

I have a 16" s/s one with a red dot on it, quite accurate at the 75yds I sighted in at and very handy to carry in the bush - puts big holes in things too.

    Grab it, that's a bargain
