    Ruger precision rifle

    Howdy
Can anyone throw some thoughts out on these please ?
I'd mainly do gongbanging and possibly fclass with a little hunting.
    Cheers

Ive had 1 for about 18 months, love it. For the money I could not build or find another rifle that would shoot a long ways, straight out of the box. Yes its a tad heavy, yes its a little agricultural, but its got everything you need and some, to mount a scope and go shoot some steel. Mine was sighted in with about half a box of ammo, and then in to shooting gongs out to 600 and 700 on its very first outing. Its a 6.5CM, and will shoot practically anything I put in in to the same point of impact. There are a number of competitors out there now, all with "similar" type rifles, and from what I have heard, they all shoot. For now Im more than happy to not have to spend any more money, and go shoot steel or targets to 1000 and beyond simply by grabbing my RPR

Yes that'S what they're for mate.

If you want to shoot F/TR you'll need it in 308. Otherwise 6-5 Cr has the advantage.

They're a bit heavy for offhand Shooting or hunting.

The Key is to get a good quality dial able scope first. That's your primary piece of kit for gong work. An RPR goes well underneath but so would a Tickler TAC.

Have not personally used one, but had a play with one today as well as a 24" Tikka CTR.

If I were to buy one or the other and hunting was going to be a use, I'd go for the Tikka CTR or even a Tikka varmint.

I don't think anyone will try and tell you the Ruger wont be accurate or a nice rifle and it'll definitely do the job, but I'd want to try one out before I bought one.
I personally prefer the feel of a "normal" rifle stock over that of the AR15 style chassis system, especially in a potential hunting rifle.
Also both Tikkas will be lighter, so nicer to carry around hunting.

You will never get a perfect do everything rifle, so will need to decide what the most important features/uses are for you. @PERRISCICABA has one and in another thread mentioned he has taken his on a few hunts.

I have a do all rifle. Weighs between 3-3.2kg depending on scope and I hunt all terrain with it.
I have shot heaps of steel and even shot some out to 1200 with it.
All done with a change of scope or barrel. 😆
