handle as many as you can, owners will tell about the strong points of their chosen rifle and experienced honest ones will tell you of any downfalls as well.
Excellent point VC. I'd make a little function test list and go through that on each rifle.

    Bolt removal
Safety catch operation (3 position or anything else weird or not to your taste)
    Loading magazine
    Removing magazine
Any strange "sticky out" bits if it is on a sling

    Thanks guys

I am look stupid after you read this:

    I purchased the Sako A7 cambered in 7mm Mag instead of 08 or 270.. Barrel length 24 7/8 "

I like the feel of it, its light and ammo is reasonably priced.

Will be heading to range this afternoon to sight in and see how it shoots the MOA group.

Will post the details here this evening..

haha, congrats on the new rifle.

7mm Rem Mag ? That's going to have a bit more kick than your 6.5 Good all-round calibre, once you start reloading you can load "low power" rounds similar to 7mm08 for it.

Hmmm that may be the case.

I used 140gr in my 6.5x55 and the bullets for A7 is also 140gr though the case is bigger in size..

Will see how much recoil it has and if its kinda bad might go for a muzzle break soon..

A suppressor may be better if you aren't doing long range shooting where you have time to put on hearing protection.

    Nice.
Def get a better recoil pad then!

You'll want to get in to handloading to get the best out of the 7mm Rem Mag, as that 140gn factory ammo is pretty average.

Just saw them on fb. I like the look of them, better then the old ones.

Do you think the chassis in the butt help with accuracy?

I concur with another post - don't be fooled into thinking a Sako A7 is a "real" Sako ... you are simply paying for the name on a cheap mass produced firearm. Seriously spend time with any firearm before purchasing it and do consider 2nd hand as there are always deals to be had. As for the 7-08 v .270 ... if you want the additional distance for something like thar in the alps then go the .270 but they are a cannon. Both will kill deer no worries. Keep safe in the hills.

If you have not considered a LimbSaver recoil pad it would be a good investment. The Precision Fit model # 10011 fits the A7 - precisely !!

It is the same LS recoil pad that a lot of people put on the Tikka T3.

Enjoy the new rifle and be safe out there.
